How much and when to water the strawberry tree
The strawberry tree needs different watering depending on whether it is an adult plant or not. Normally, in fact, in the first year of life, irrigation must necessarily take place more frequently, especially in those seasons in which the rains have been very scarce. As the months go by, the irrigations must decrease quite drastically. The strawberry tree, when adult, is very resistant to drought. Despite this, irrigations are allowed only in those particularly dry years, where it hardly ever rains and in the summer season. On average, watering must take place every 15 days. It is very important not to favor water stagnation, feared by the strawberry tree for the irreparable damage that can result to the roots.
How to properly cultivate and care for the strawberry tree
The strawberry tree is absolutely not a plant that needs particular skills to be successfully cultivated. Ideal soils should preferably be neutral or poor, characterized by subacids, siliceous or volcanic and perfectly drained. Cultivation and care needs are almost non-existent. Once the roots of the strawberry tree have taken root, it is, in fact, a completely autonomous plant. The multiplication takes place by seed to be carried out at the end of the winter season in a mixture of peat and sand in equal parts to be kept moist until spring. Multiplication by cutting is also possible. Planting, in both cases, must take place definitively after about 2 years. First the plants must absolutely be kept in shelter or in special greenhouses.
