The magnificent shrub draws its origin only from the African continent and is included in the vast and polymorphic family grouping of the Asclepiadaceae. This evergreen is highly appreciated for its brilliant ovoid foliage and for the immaculate characteristics of the inflorescences, often used for the creation of enchanting ceremony bouquets. It will have to be constantly and adequately wet during the spring and summer season, even several times a week, while the watering will be significantly limited in the remaining periods of the year, without ever interrupting them completely. It will be appropriate never to cause soaking and stagnation in the periodic spraying of the ornamental Stephanotis, since they are potentially harmful to the root system and source of possible fungal pathologies.
Care and culture
The graceful Stephanotis can be placed in landscaping gardens and green spaces, or alternatively placed in a container inside homes and offices. In any case, a soft and not very cohesive earth, tendentially acid and full of organic substances, must be prepared, to which will be added sandy and gravelly materials capable of ensuring effective and continuous drainage. Periodically, the evergreen will be subjected to pruning, consisting both in the modeling glimpse of the branches, and in the elimination of all the old and withered parts. Repotting operations, on the other hand, will be carried out with an advisable annual frequency, always using larger containers that can accommodate the root system and support the more than moderate development of the plant.
