This type of machine is widely used in areas with a vocation for vineyards or orchards, given the specific nature of its work. The market offers an almost infinite range and type of machines. We move from gardening models, self-propelled or to be attached to walking tractors, to highly professional ones to be attached to tractors by means of power take-off (this is the technical term, even if "on the field" is called power take-off) and three-point hitch. Basically, the flail mower is a circular rotor, with a horizontal axis, on which the knives are mounted which grind the material in motion. Of course the bigger the machine the greater the power needed to make it work. Gardening machines are available in large garden centers or in specialized centers; professional ones exclusively from specialized dealers.
Garden shredders hooked on
These flail mowers are machines suitable for shredding pruning residues from your garden. Attached to a two-wheeled cultivator: in fact they are produced with a flange that allows them to be connected to the cultivators built by the major brands on the market. Their working width affects, as you know, the power required to make them work: we go from a minimum of 6 HP up to about 18-20 HP for the slightly larger models; for a cutting width between 50 cm and 80 cm. They are suitable for shredding tall grass up to 1.5 m and small branches, brambles and brushwood with a diameter of no more than 3 cm; equipped with double "Y" knives in steel. Stabilized on the ground thanks to the presence of a pair of swivel wheels, adjustable in height and a pair of lateral slides.
