Pre-pruning machines: use in different forms of farming
Pre-pruning machines are used in vineyards and in the various forms of vine growing. However, depending on the characteristics of the cultivation, the pre-pruning interventions are different. In the case of spurred cordon cultivation, it is necessary to leave 30-40 centimeters away from the cord: this facilitates manual finishing and the selection of fruit-bearing garments. The distance will be sufficient to ensure the safety of the screw during subsequent finishing operations and the speed of the pre-pruning intervention. Producers, even large ones, who have opted for this type of breeding generally use these types of machines. In the Sylvoz breeding form, on the other hand, these tools are used to cut everything found both under the cordon and above the posts. Finally, for Guyot cultivation, these machines are used to cut everything 50-60 centimeters above the branch that was shot the previous year.
Models: the Disc 00 pre-pruner
Let's now see some models used in the pre-pruning operations in the vineyards. For example, the Disc 00 pre-pruner has the ability to pass over the row. In this way, he manages to carry out a total removal of the prunings, shredding the wood thus uprooted into pieces of only 10 centimeters. In addition, by doing so, the grubbing up time of the prunings inside the rows is greatly reduced. The Disc 00 pre-pruner is equipped with a dry pre-pruning head that can be applied to any frame. The head features five to nine pairs of ripping blades and is equipped with an ergonomic joystick in order to control the functions and adjust the rotation speed of the blades. In addition, on request, the pre-pruner can be equipped with an independent hydraulic power unit.
